GDPR, Contracts and Networking

Posted on 11 May 2021

Well I’ve had a busy few weeks! I’ve been learning all about GDPR and how it works. I’ve been setting up contracts for taking clients on and I’ve been to several networking groups. At first I thought GDPR would be scary and I had no idea where to start. There is a lot of information out there about it and I’ve managed to find a couple of good sources. The Association of Professional Virtual Assistants have been amazing, there is so much information there I’ve been able to use. I’ve also registered with the ICA and paid the fee to be added to the database. As far as I understand GDPR so far is to make sure everything is encrypted, emails and any customer data I keep. That’s next on my to do list, find an encrypting software!

The Association of Professional VA’s recommended KoffeeKlatch for contracts and terms of businesses. I’ve downloaded some of them and now I need to edit them to make them personal to my business.

And networking, well I’ve now been to two of the local business clubs and everyone was lovely. I don’t really know why I was so nervous before! Everyone keeps telling me that business networking is the way to go so I really need to put myself out there. I’ve got another networking event tomorrow and then that’s it for the month. If anyone has any recommendations for networking events I’d be happy to hear them! I’ve got another busy week this week, updating websites and a couple of people have asked for work so just waiting for the details to come through. Hopefully next time I will be able to update you all on what its like getting the first official client! Thank you for reading,

Jen
